The Story - 2 Years Later It was the middle of April, 2003 when I made my amazing discovery that cleared my psoriasis. After suffering for 25 years, I never expected to be clear again. While I'm not "cured", I am 99.9% clear. I have one, small plaque on my leg that seems to be trying to clear, but hasn't quite made up its mind! ;-) I had a very severe and unresponsive case of psoriasis. My doctor in Houston stated that it was the worse case he had ever seen, and he was respected as one of the top dermatologists in the country, and treated hundreds of psoriasis patients. At my worst I was 90% covered in psoriasis. Plaque psoriasis, pustular psoriasis, psoriasis of the nail and scalp, in my ears, I had it everywhere from the top of my head, to the tips of my toes. It was not fun. It was a pain in the ass. But I made the best of it and survived! Up to April 2003, I had my psoriasis somewhat under "control". I had reduced my coverage from 90% to 25%. A significant clearing but I still had a quarter of my body covered with psoriasis. Over the years I tried every prescription ointment and creme approved for psoriasis. I went through months and months of expensive PUVA treatments. I'd clear some and then I'd break out with more psoriasis....... I used Skin Cap for awhile (back in the 1980's) and I tried all kinds of over-the counter treatments. Everything seemed to be futile! For 10 years I used the prescription ointment Ultravate. It is a super strong steroid and probably shouldn't have been used for 10 years. I went through four, 50 gram tubes a year. I have some areas where my skin is darker and thinner from decades of steroids. The Skin Cap product could also be responsible. The Ultravate ointment kept the scaling down and the sores wouldn't blead when you scratched them, either on purpose or not, conciously or unconciously! But they would not clear and go away. I probably worked up a resistance after using it for so long. After completing the sale of my Golf & Country Club property, I decided to move south fifty miles to be closer to my daughter, who is now twelve. She's a great kid, straight A's, good looking, athletic, good manners, and responsible. I do worry about her though, as both her mother and I both had very bad cases of psoriasis. So far she has remained clear but you never know with this crazy skin disease. It was after my move to the Austin, Texas area when I made my amazing discovery. This is covered in detail in Chapter Two of my book, Say Goodbye to Psoriasis. It's very simple to do and really inexpensive. It got me from 25% psoriasis coverage to less than 5%. I then started following the information in Chapter 3 regarding diet along with the information in Chapter Eight. The combination of those three things got me to 99.5% clear. (In estimating coverage, the size of your palm is equal to approximately 1% of your total body.) This was kind of frustrating to be so close to being 100% clear, yet not quite there. I had a small plaque on each arm, two on my left leg and four small plaques scattered on my right leg. All of these were in areas covered by normal clothing, which for me is a short sleeve shirt and shorts. They seemed to be stuck as they were not clearing nor were they expanding. For this two year period, I did not use any prescription medications. I tested several over the counter products and while all were helpful in reducing scaling, they did nothing as far as clearing the sore. If you want something to help with reducing scaling, Vaseline or Petroleum Jelly seems to be as effective as any over the counter product, in reducing scaling and moisturizing the area. During this two year period, I took my daughter to the dermatologist once and the family doctor once. I asked both doctors to write me a prescription for a small tube of Ultravate, and both refused! While both looked at the small plaque on my arm and shook their head in agreement that it was psoriasis, neither would take the minute to write the prescription. They both wanted $$$$$$$$$$$$ on top of what I was already paying for 3 minutes of their time! I understand they don't work for free, I don't either, but I was already paying for their time and they know damn well that there isn't anything they can do to clear my psoriasis for good. They want to treat the symptoms, control them, and keep you coming back on a regular basis. I have nothing against doctors, most are wonderful, caring people. Some are not and the two mentioned above we no longer use. My thinking was that after not using Ultravate for a long period, it might be effective in clearing the remaining plaques I had, as they were not being responsive to any of the over the counter products. In March, 2005 I returned from a Florida vacation and celebration of my Dad's 80th birthday and came down with a terrible bronchial illness. I seldom get sick, hardly ever get a cold, but I couldn't breathe, had a temperature of 104, food tasted terrible, I'd get monster hiccups for 24 hours straight. It was bad! I went to the doctor and got some antibiotics and a week later, I finally started feeling better. I also asked the doctor to write me a prescription for Ultravate while I was there and she obliged. Yeah! I finally get to test this and see if I can get to 100% clear! The Ultravate did its job and cleared all but one of my remaining spots! I had a dime sized plaque on my left arm which had been there for over 25 years. I really didn't expect it to clear but it did. I have one remaining spot on my right leg, above the knee, that looks like it is going away, but it hasn't yet. Not really a big deal but I'll keep working on it until it's totally gone. One thing for sure is that the information in Chapter Two of my book is the main force for the clearing that took place. I have tested this myself and with the feedback received from 1,000's of purchasers of my book, it is without a doubt, the key to clearing! I also believe that the Moisture Machine has been important in keeping my skin in a "healthy" state. When your skin is soft and moist it's difficult for the psoriasis to spread. When your skin is hard and dry, the psoriasis can spread like wildfire! I highly recommend this product as it is the easiest and most economical way of nourishing your skin on a daily, and complete basis. Click the link above for more details. So yeah, I'm happy! After suffering for 25 years and going from 90% psoriasis coverage, down to 0.1% is a great achievement! What's even better is when I hear from my customers who have put my method in to action, and finally achieve the clearing that has eluded them for so long. Keep those letters coming. Email - Mail Bag
I get a lot of email. Including all the spam, it's like 500 to 1,000 a day. Luckily the spam filters do a great job of sorting the mail! The other day I received the following email from a customer, and I really did not know how to take it. Many people write and tell me how thrilled they are with the results they are getting. Other whackos write and tell me how I'm going to hell because I charge $25 for my book rather than distributing it for free. Here's the email:
Let me start by saying that you are my hero, I have met several people that were suffering from psoriasis since finding your website, and It would be so easy for me just to tell them the information that you taught me, but oh no, my hero, you deserve every 24.95 you can get and so much more.
I had been suffering with psoriases for over a year and it was spreading fast, everywhere, I was having to wear cotton gloves everyday because my hands were scaling and bleeding, it was in my hairline on my face, People were looking at me and asking me idiotic questions. I was seeing one of the best Dermatologist in Seattle, slathering on every lotion and cream the good ol' Doc prescribed, what a joke ......Needless to say, I have not seen her since finding your website. However, I do have thoughts of dancing naked through her office singing " I have a secret and I'm not gonna tell ya..."
Sincerely, Cured in Seattle,
J.A. Kelley
I wrote her back to see if she was being sarcastic or if she really was being serious, and she responded: I was trying to be humorous, But dead serious about the "hero" part. It's fun to make people Happy! :-) Since I've been talking a lot of percentages in this issue, I thought you might appreciate a little humor that's relative!
What Makes 100%? What does it mean to give MORE than 100%? Ever
That's it for now. There really has not been any big news on the psoriasis front. If you haven't already ordered my book, there is no better time than right now!
To your clearing!
Humor Section! ;-)
This is a picture of my 1 remaining psoriasis sore, taken on 6/23/05. It's about one half the size of a dime, and shrinking. It should be gone soon, with any luck! :-)
